We deconstructed this 72 Winnebago and re-built into a conference room for Nike. Three sides of the Winnebago remained as close to the original as we could keep it and one side attaches to the end of the larger conference room. We took the original axels out of the truck and made them into the supports that hold up the conference room table.
2 weeks prior to Roger going out on court at Wimbledon we had heard that roger would like to wear a full suit out on the court. I and 2 other designers took on the task. One designer headed to Italy to make the jacket, pant, and sweater while myself and one other stayed back to hand-make his bag book and footwear boxes. Along with other small items not shown.
The best part about this project is Roger had no idea. We presented everything to him using the book as a presentation tool when we turned the pages to share what we had designed the physical item was presented to him. It was a huge success for both Nike and RF the brand.
Nike took part in a collaboration with Marc Newson. Together they designed a shoe. We created this room to celebrate the release of the shoe, with the design illustrating how the shoe was inspired.
Designed to celebrate Coach Mike Krzyzewski's 1000 NCAA Division 1 wins, we created this box--made from 800 year old English oak--to house a stack of ten 24-gold plated Ks, each representing 100 wins. Inside, every win is listed in order, embossed into brown leather.
The box is on permanent display in the Duke University Basketball Museum.
Keeping in mind the balance Sincerely Truman strikes between the playful and the industrious, I designed this creative agency's space to encourage both socializing and hard work. I then sourced all the pieces needed--from the giant door with intact portal to the wood found in the space. We did our best to use as much reclaimed material as possible.
Nike SB worked with MOCA in Los Angeles to create a collection of custom shoes to auction off to benefit the museum. My job was to turn 40 original piece of art work by famed artist Geoff McFetridge into wearable pairs of Nike SB Dunks. We took great care in making sure every part of the shoe was created from each individual piece of artwork.
When Adidas was coming out with a new cushioning feature called Boost, they hired Fiction to create their presentations for the launch. I art directed all 3D elements for the launch, including retail fixtures, footwear shelves, signs, windows and all else appearing in retail spaces.
As part of an Nike's ongoing work with tennis pro Roger Federer, we designed this collection of apparel, worn by Roger Federer at the Wimbledon 2008. We handmade all the elements, except for the cardigan, which we had made in Italy. This project, like all of our work for Federer, was highly detailed and personalized. Some of these details include the buttons, which I hand turned on the wood lathe, and laser etched RF5 into the wood to represent the five Wimbledon championships he had won to that point. I also designed the bag he used, shown here.
HBO’s hit show Entourage asked for an all-white custom pair of Air Force 1’s shoes to use on the show. We hand made two pairs of AF1-s: One all-white pair and one gold & white pair with matching custom boxes. The show used the gold pair.
We then made nine unique pairs for each cast member and the show runners. One of the cast pairs made it on Ebay and sold for 15K.
Every year, Nike has a design outreach project with a brand unrelated to footwear, chosen for inspiration. Nike collaborated with Icon 4x4 to design and build some of the exterior and interior parts for the new Ford Bronco. We designed the details on this Icon truck, complete with custom dashboard, grill, finishing details, icon word details and custom stainless steel parts.
After the University of Oregon football team's participation in the Rose Bowl, they were honored by an invitation to appear in the Rose Festival Parade in Portland, Oregon. Rather than a traditional float, we build them this Duck football-themed truck.
To celebrate Michael Jordan's entry into the Basketball Hall of Fame, we created a custom-built golf cart. We took a original Ezgo golf cart and completely rebuilt it to fit Michael's proportions.
Custom Jackets to celebrate Black History month. Created for the hosts of TNT basketball. 3 jackets were made for each host.
Hand made belt designed for Roger Federer. Given to him as a Nike gift to celebrate him breaking the Tennis major tournament wins. The belt was tattooed by Scott Cambell on leather.
Converse was releasing a new basketball shoe and they didn’t want the classic custom wood box, so they asked for a special backpack to be designed and made for 20 pairs of shoes.
The backpack has an aluminum frame with a plastic nylon roll-top bag inside the frame. The bag is held in place by a stretch-front cover with two welded pockets added to the front. Each backpack was entirely hand made.
These bikes were designed for two Nike employees who hit important Nike milestones. I designed the black and silver bike and had completely covered in vinyl stickers and then clear coated.
We built the second bike to celebrate 25 years of the Nike Air Force 1 . The designer of the shoe was the recipient of the bike. All the design cues were taken from the original shoe.
The Bowerman Awards were created in 2010 to celebrate the best male and female amateur track athlete. The award was named after Bill Bowerman the former hall of fame coach of the Oregon Track and Field team.
We designed, then created the award from a solid piece of aluminum milled to this final shape. It was then hand polished and gold plated. We then added a 3D printing of Bill Bowerman to the acrylic.
We designed and created this box to honor multi-media artist Thomas Kuntz. His sculptural style of artwork informed the look and feel of the project. We used Kuntz's graphics to laser over the entire box and finished with gold screen printing.
In 2008, when Lance Armstrong was returning to Tour de France after a break, he approached Nike to design him a shoe to race in. I was brought in to make design adjustments to the shoe to make it appear more flattering on his foot. I added personalized details, including the flame job on the bottom, as well as created the graphics for the box.
Tasked with creating a custom pair of shoes and shoe box for Brazilian soccer player Ronaldinho, we took inspiration from his home, which features white and gold details. These crisp white and gold-plated shoes were housed in a sharp white box designed specifically for Ronaldinho.
